Password Security

Users are reminded at the beginning of each semester to change passwords on FSKU and HRSA.
HRSA and FSKU users need to comply with the policy by changing their HRSA and FSKU passwords (for all user ids) to a ‘strong’ password. The current HRSA and FSKU systems have unique rules regarding passwords. You must have all 4 items below.

  1. Must be 7 or 8 characters long. They cannot be longer than 8 characters (but must be 7 to comply with the University policy).
  2. The leading character must be an upper case alphabetic character (A-Z). Alphabetic characters keyed are automatically converted to upper case in the HRSA and FSKU systems.
  3. Must include one of the following three special characters #, $, _. Only three special characters are allowed, if you use others the new password will not be changed or saved.
  4. Must include at least one digit (0-9).

Therefore, we ask you to create a ‘strong’ password that is at least 7 or 8 characters long. It must include at least one of the three special characters and at least one digit (0-9) and begin with an upper case alphabetic character.

The "button" to change your HRSA or FSKU password is the middle bottom of the PeopleSoft Sign On page. Click on the "Set Password..." button after you have typed in current password and then you can change to a new password.
