Using WebNow (KUWebNow)

 

Launching WebNow and Logging In

Once you have received notice of your WebNow account activation, you can access documents via the web.
Request for access to KUWebNow (user ids and initial passwords) should be directed to Jennifer Hanson (jjhanson@ku.edu).  User ID and password is the same as your KU Online ID and password.  Information for resetting your KU Online ID is found on line at https://www.aims.ku.edu/password/

  • Open an internet browser. Type in https://kuwebnow.ku.edu . Press Enter.
  • Answer “YES” to the question – Do you want to display the nonsecured items? Security Information Window
  • Answer “YES” to the question – Do you want to trust the signed applet distributed by “Perceptive Software, Inc.”?

  • As your WebNow home page launches, the Logon dialog box will display:

  • Enter your user KU Online name in the User Name field.
  • Enter your KU Online password in the Password field.
  • Click Connect to initiate the connection to the WebNow Server. If the login is successful, the WebNow search page will display.

WebNow Search

 

  • Complete the items needed for your search. 
  • In a simple search, you can query for documents that contain a DocKey, like Drawer, Folder, Tab, Field 3, Field4, Field 5, or Document Type. Available conditions in a simple search include: is equal to, is not equal to, is greater than, is less than, is greater than or equal to, and is less than or equal to.  For example, you can search for all documents linked to a document type like Voucher or BPC

  • In an advanced search, you can search for documents that meet several different criteria with additional operators, such as contains, does not contain, is null, is not null, starts with, ends with, is not equal, and so on. In addition to searching for DocKey comparisons, in advanced search, you can search for specific document properties, a specified user who created, , modified, or was the last to view the document; the date of creation, modification, and last view; and the workflow queue, status, user, and item ID. Document status is another category on which you can query to find documents that are in workflow. You can also search all fields for a specific condition. To search for several conditions, separate each condition with an AND or OR operator. Using an advanced search, you can also specify how you want the resulting documents sorted.

WebNow Search Grid

The Search grid will display your search results.

  • A successful search will result in items appearing in the Search Grid.
  • Double-click an item in the Search Grid to view the image(s)
  • If the results are not what you were looking for, refine your search criteria
  • The Search grid can be customized using Options – Grid Options, including the maximum number of documents a search will return.
  • The results in the grid can be resorted by double-clicking a column header.

WebNow Viewer

The WebNow Viewer displays documents opened from the WebNow Search grid.  Double-click on the selected image to see the document in the Viewer mode.  Based on the user’s approved access, various actions can be carried out from the Viewer page or menus.

Document Properties (F7)

Document Properties identify the linking values

Document Keys ( Drawer, Transaction ID, Vendor ID , etc.)

View the Thumbnails pane (F9)

This procedure displays the Thumbnails pane for all documents. The Thumbnails pane feature lets you click an icon to switch to a different page of a document.

The user’s WebNow Viewer can be customized to the user’s preferences using the View menu in the WebNow Viewer page.

 

 

 

 

Logging Out of WebNow

Choose the Disconnect icon (upper right-hand corner) to log out of WebNow.

Note: Simply closing the browser window will not log you out of WebNow; you will stay connected and be unable to log in to WebNow from another computer.
